Our children have many opportunities to enjoy music and build up their musical skills and understanding. Class music sessions include opportunities to explore sounds, build combinations of melody and rhythms, perform their compositions and listen to their own work and that of published composers. The children are encouraged to appreciate music from a wide variety of styles and cultures.
In Year 3, our children enjoy weekly lessons with the Hampshire Music Service through the Listen2Me project. The whole class learn to play three instruments during the year and develop their skills across all areas of music with a specialist teacher.
Children are also learn to play the recorder in Year 2. They perform regularly at our music concerts.
We also offer the opportunity for children to learn to play the clarinet or flute, the keyboard or drums within group music lessons. Parents are asked to help pay for these additional lessons which are available to children in Years 4, 5 and 6.
